Meet our team of dedicated naturopathic professionals.

Dr. Nana Chang, B.Sc., N.D.

Dr. Nana Chang founded the progressive, patient focused, Meridian Naturopathic Clinic and Assessment Centre in 1993.

With more than 20 years in clinical practice, her vision is to provide high quality in-office assessments and to educate and empower patients to better understand and participate in their own health.

Dr. Chang believes this knowledge can increase patient awareness of daily lifestyle choices and how they can affect overall health. This knowledge can then be shared with family members and friends and promote healthier lifestyle choices for all.

Dr. Chang is a Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology and Human Biology from the University of Toronto, and a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Her other qualifications include:

  • Certified Licensed Practitioner of Acupuncture from the Ontario Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine
  • Certified Practitioner of Intravenous Nutritional Therapy
  • Graduate of the Applied Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice Program from the Institute of Functional Medicine
  • Certified Practitioner of Bowen Therapy
  • Certified Practitioner of First Line Therapy
  • Served on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors

Dr. Chang also received extensive training in Germany in Computerized Regulation Thermography as well as in-depth training in the fields of Electro-Dermal Testing, Hematology, and Environmental Medicine.

She has shared her passion for alternative health care through speaking engagements and radio and television appearances. She has addressed organizations such as: Ryerson University, Bell Mobility Corporation, Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario, The Heart and Stroke Foundation and various other interest groups. She has also been published in several leading health care magazines.

Irene Swedak, B. Sc., RHN, RNCP, Nutritionist

Irene offers comprehensive nutritional counseling services for Meridian Naturopathic Clinic and Assessment Centre patients. She graduated with honours from the University of Guelph, specializing in Biochemistry and Nutrition, and also achieved honours in Holistic Nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.

Her other notable accomplishments include:

Riva Chu, B.A., RNCP, Nutritionist

Riva has always had a passion for fitness and health.  She began her studies in these areas at York University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Society.  Eager to learn more in the area of health, she pursued and earned a post-graduate degree in Health Promotion.  Working as a health promoter in a variety of institutions, such as The Hospital for Sick Children, she helped staff members become more involved in their healthy lifestyle choices by providing workshops and coordinating health events.

Through her experience as a health promoter, she recognized the importance of nutrition in attaining optimal health and well-being.  She went back to school to focus her studies in nutrition, and graduated with honours at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition, becoming a designated Registered Nutrition Consulting Practitioner.  In addition, she earned her certification in Live Blood Cell Microscopy. 

Riva is a committed practitioner who strives to empower others to take an active role in their personal health.  She focuses on identifying and correcting the underlying causes of health concerns, and educating on diet and natural nutritional food supplementation to achieve optimal health and to prevent or manage many chronic diseases.

Julie-Ann W. Rawlings, RNCP, CCE, CPT

Julie-Ann is a Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner and a Certified Personal Trainer. She offers creative and individualized programs for weight management and lifestyle modification in an effective, easy-to-implement way. With her passion & sincerity, she empowers her clients to have the confidence to make informed decisions on food, lifestyle & exercise; setting realistic goals yet allowing for those guilt free days.

She strongly believes that no matter what age or state of health a person is in, there is always the ability to learn more about nutrition and functional fitness; which are foundations for optimal health.

Her qualifications are:

  • Certified Cancer Coach/Educator (CCE) from NAPCC and McMaster University
  • Certified Live Cell Microscopist
